Photo Quality - Print Size & Cropping

Digital photos are usually of a different rectangular shape (aspect ratio) to a photo that has been printed from a negative.

If your digital file is to FILL the 6x4’” standard paper size, your image will automatically be cropped along the 2 longer edges.

If all of your digital file is to FIT onto a selected paper size and therefore not be cropped, it will not fill the standard 6x4” paper size and your image will automatically have white edges on the 2 shorter sides.

Our software has online cropping tools which let you view your image at each selected paper size and allow you to determine how your photos will be cropped when they are printed. When you order your prints, look for the tools which allow you to crop in and zoom out and then to choose exactly the area you wish to print simply click and drag the picture within the frame.
